Wydean Rally - Forest of Dean
Rallying returned to the Forest of Dean on Saturday 15th October after a few years’ sabbatical. There was a full entry of 90, and this year’s event was based out of Coleford with 41 miles of stages, the format being in three stages, each run twice. The rally was a round of Pirelli Welsh, HRCR Stage Masters IPS Paint Rally Challenge, Motorsport UK English and ANWCC championships. I've never photographed rallying before, so this was another new challenge, in what has been a 'motorsport event year' for me. I decided on an early start and from the Aboretum car park, followed a small group of enthusiasts to a location on a 90 degree hairpin. Unlike circuit racing, spectators are very close to the tracks and personal safety certainly has to be considered, but also makes for great photo' opportunities and excitement.
