Tewkesbury Medieval Festival
Tewkesbury Medieval Festival is widely regarded as the biggest free Medieval gathering in Europe with over 2000 re-enactors and traders travelling from as far afield as France, Poland, Belgium, Spain, Italy, and Germany. Many live in full Medieval style for the weekend and welcome visitors to the living history camps around the battlefield, King Edward’s camp on Windmill Hill, and Queen Margaret’s camp in Bloody Meadow. On both Saturday and Sunday a procession proceeds from Tewkesbury town centre at around 11:00am making its way to the location of the battlefield known as Gaston Field; here the Lancastrian and Yorkist armies muster in preparation for a re-enactment of the battle which takes place around 3:00pm. Details can be found on the Tewkesbury Medieval Festival website here.
