Charity Work
In early 2019, I began providing photographic support for the Dogs For Good organisation and the local Forest of Dean Dementia Alliance Group with their "Dementia Dog Days" project. DFG provide Assistance Dogs and I was asked to photograph a support worker and their dog carrying out their duties in the community.
Our Favourite Places Project
Another amazing support group is Mindscape who bring art and crafts activities to dementia sufferers, and I've been proud to support their scheme. During lockdown I created and embarked on a project called Our Favourite Places. ‘Our Favourite Places’ was a collection of photographs taken at specific locations selected by mindSCAPE participants and produced as a Photo Book. This book is literally a collection of the participants ‘Our Favourite Places’, it reminds them and their loved ones of the significance that nature can have in their lives and the fondness and affection that they have for those special places, that mean so much to them. The books were well received and I therefore decided to widen the scope of the project to raise funds for the local Dementia Action Alliance. In early 2021 I created and launched the Our Favourite Places Big Photo Album website which for a small donation allowed visitors to upload and share their loved ones' favourite place, the project ran for around six months and raised nearly £2000.
I'm particularly keen to support similar community based organisations with images of events and activities to provide valuable memories for all concerned. Other assignments of course can be considered.
