"Artspace would like to thank Steve Gaskin, who volunteered to devise and produce the beautiful book and this online version. Steve attends Artspace’s ‘mindSCAPE’ project with his wife Kathy. ‘Our Favourite Places’ is a stunning collection of Steve’s photographs, taken at specific locations selected by mindSCAPE participants. This book is literally a collection of ‘Our Favourite Places’, it reminds us of the significance that nature can have in our lives and the fondness and affection that we have for those special places, that mean so much to us.
mindSCAPE is a Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) project, delivered by Artspace Cinderford. The project was launched in 2014 with funding from the Big Lottery; other principal project partners include The Forest of Dean District Council and the Forestry Commission. From April 2018 the project continued with funding from Arts Council England’s ‘Celebrating Age’ programme.
mindSCAPE is a series of creative workshops, designed to help people with dementia and their carers to connect to nature through art. Sessions are devised and delivered by Artspace practitioners and are inspired by the beautiful natural environment of the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley.
