London

London is the most populous city in the United Kingdom with a metropolitan area of over 13 million inhabitants. Standing on the River Thames, London has been a major settlement for two millennia, it's history going back to its founding by the Romans, who named it Londinium. London's ancient core, the City of London, largely retains its 1.12-square-mile mediaeval boundaries and in 2011 had a resident population of 7,375, making it the smallest city in England.* Obviously London is a huge photographic opportunity, and these initial photographs are from a recent short visit in August 2014, mainly to The Tower. Hopefully there will be more to come in the not too distant future.
