Croatia
Croatia is an Eastern European country with a long coastline on the Adriatic Sea. Encompassing more than a thousand islands, it's also crossed by the Dinaric Alps. Its inland capital, Zagreb, is distinguished by its medieval Gornji Grad (Upper Town) and diverse museums. The major coastal city Dubrovnik has massive 16th-century walls encircling an Old Town with Gothic and Renaissance buildings. International tourism is a significant source of revenue during the summer, with Croatia ranked the 18th most popular tourist destination in the world.
2017 was my first visit for a ten day holiday, the first week we stayed outside Split in the coastal resort of Omis. We then drove to Dubrovnik where we stayed just three more nights in a place called Cavtat. The Croatian people were extremely friendly and with so much more of Croatia to see, I’ve no doubt we will be visiting again in the future.
2019 update. Having only being able to spend 3 nights previously in Cavtat, I decided to take the family there for a week in August. Cavtat is a beautiful coastal location and from there we took time to visit the small village of Čillipi where every Sunday they hold a traditional Konavle folk dance; a lovely event with forever smiling people dressed in hand made costumes.
